the active, rambunctious kid is diagnosed

Today it came full circle.
A life of "active" behavior, the impulsivity and the issues dealing with focusing and fighting over homework may be over.

Brian was diagnosed today with ADHD.

Tomorrow he starts his medicine.

Now my questions start.
Will my son's behavior change?
Will I see more focus & remembering from him?
Will he do his homework with out arguing and might he start to like school?
Will he change?
Some things I want to change, but there are the unique "Brianisms" that I don't ever want to lose.
Today things changed for him, for us.
Tomorrow things will change for him and us too.
One can only predict the changes, but we'll have to see what happens.
One thing is for sure, I don't know that it would get much worse.

Let's pray for a very positive change in Brian.

Aye Carumba...not a happy camper

When this is the most important thing in your life, that and passing the final in driver's ed; then it is not surprising that a sidelining injury makes one not so happy.

After two weeks of rest and 2 lb weight rehab, according to one orthopedic specialist, we find out from the shoulder expert that there is a fracture on the growth plate in Doug's left shoulder. Another two weeks of completely nothing. No practice, no lifting at volleyball conditioning and another visit back to the orthopedic, most likely followed by two weeks of rehab. Luckily he didn't rip anything or tear the rotator cuff, that would have most likely resulted in surgery. Not too serious, unless, again you eat, sleep and breathe volleyball. So we'll miss at least 2 tournaments, maybe 3 but he'll be healed before the high school season. This might be what holds him back from varsity, but most of his buddies will probably play j.v. again because of the large number of seniors that are remaining from last year.

A word of advice....don't ask how volleyball is for the next couple weeks. You'll only be subjected to the eye rolling and constant complaining from Doug, who is not the happy camper.

What would you do if....

you received a new Dooney and Burke bag and inside was a paper, and it said.....

You have been given a mother & daughter trip to anywhere in the world!

Where would you choose to go??

This is exactly what my mom gave me today. It was so remarkable and so touching.

Navy Wins 51-30...

And that is a good thing!

And....
This is why we root for Navy!

This is my cousin Matthew. Number 79, offensive tackle. He's big! He's tall! He's tough! He's competitive! He's quite the easy going, mild mannered, nicest guy you'd like to meet!

Matthew I'm so proud of you and your life choices! You are brave and dedicated especially joining the millitary during these crazy times. I only wish we lived closer together, I really would love for my kids to know you better and spend time with you. You have got to know though that every time we get to see you on T.V they are saying hey there's Matt or That's my cousin...booyah! I've got to also admit it...I search the Navy website looking for new photos and post them to my friends!

Congratulations on the big win over Army to clinch the Commander in Chief's trophy and now the huge win over Colorado State in the Poinsettia Bowl!

Go Navy...Go Navy...Go Navy!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh...Vacation

I swear I thought it would never get here. December 23, most think ARRRRRRGH two days before Christmas...I think VACATION!!!! My school district went a week longer than most in my area but I'm officially on vacation. I'm off until January 9th. Then we have a 4 day week then the following week is a 4 day week. Rotten part is that report cards are due almost as soon as we get back.

My kids have been off since last week, so they go back on January 3. I'll kind of miss not spending 2 weeks with them, but then again a week off alone might be just what the doctor ordered! I do have some scrapbooking things that I've been putting off. I have a baby page to do, and Nic's baby will be here soon. I'm bad I know it! I also started a decorated can for journal ideas and it has been sitting on the side of my desk since September.

I am looking forward to fun gifts and scraping with a girlfriend. I also have to take the boys for several doctor appointments next week and was going to try to get last minute tickets for us to see Wicked. I have grad school stuff to do and it must be done to turn in on the first night of class. My portfolio is due. I'm sure I'll be moaning and groaning about it and I also have to start to learn how to use Live Text. Seems quite easy but just another thing I have to do.

That is why my blog is temporarily (maybe permanently) titled My busy life. Just too much to do and not enough energy to do it.

Yahoo I'm on Vacation!!!!

Today is the first day of the rest of my blog

This is so wierd that I can now post what ever I want and when ever I want. I think I will try to post this and post a photo of my newest creation.

This is a tongue in cheek layout about the fact that I have some serious gray under that hair color. My thought in this was by showing the "skunk stripe" I could confess that I do color.

My thought behind the title is that I hope I "age gracefully" but I know I'll gray fully!
